Trent Severn Waterway

The Swift Rapids dam, owned by Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC) is located on the Trent-Severn Waterway near Orillia, Ontario. Constructed in the early 1900’s, a grouting and anchoring program was carried out in order to rehabilitate and strengthen the structure. ECO provided direction and inspection services to PWGSC for the dam grouting and pre-grouting of the formation to facilitate the rock anchor installation program.

ECO identified deficiencies in the anchor grouting procedures prescribed in the standard Specifications. With the cooperation of PWGSC and the Contractor, the anchor grouting that had been conducted was checked, deficiencies were rectified and the procedures for additional anchor grouting were modified.
